Peppol ViDA (EU) Pilot

Peppol ViDA is the EU-wide framework for reporting cross-border business-to-business transactions to tax authorities in near-real time. It becomes mandatory for intra-EU trade on 1 July 2030, and it's the technical foundation that several EU countries — including Slovakia — are already building their own national tax-reporting requirements on top of.

The mandate at a glance

  • Any business issuing or receiving intra-EU business-to-business invoices will be affected once cross-border reporting becomes mandatory on 1 July 2030.
  • Domestic (within-country) reporting stays a national choice, but every country's own system must align with the EU framework by 1 January 2035.
  • The regulatory model lets each participating country plug in its own tax-authority reporting endpoint. A single cross-border transaction can trigger reports to two different countries' tax authorities — the seller's and the buyer's — depending on what each country requires.
  • An industry-wide pilot, run by the Peppol standards body, is already underway ahead of the 2030 deadline.

How it works

  • Invoices and credit notes use the standard Peppol invoice format over the Peppol network — ViDA doesn't introduce a new invoice format.
  • Businesses keep using their existing national Peppol identifier; ViDA doesn't add a new EU-wide identifier.
  • Alongside the invoice, a derived tax-data document is submitted by the sending provider to the seller's national tax authority and, where that country requires it, by the receiving provider to the buyer's tax authority. Invoice delivery is never held up waiting for the tax-data submission to complete.

What Arratech handles for you

  • Peppol Access Point and directory registration under your existing national identifier.
  • Validation of your invoices against the standard Peppol format.
  • Delivery tracking for every invoice you send or receive.
  • ViDA-specific tax-data reporting isn't yet available on Arratech Connect; we're tracking the industry pilot and building support ahead of the 2030 mandate. Our Slovakia tax-reporting work is the closest thing we have live today, since it's built on the same underlying framework.
